Tassenkuchen Cafe is an organic American style cafe not far from the Seestrasse station in Wedding, Berlin. My friend Lisa was the one who introduced me to the place after telling me about their pancake brunch on the weekends. Since then I've been back on several occasions with friends, trying to decide which baked goodie to get next and chatting over a nice cup of fair trade coffee.

I would highly recommend the scones if you drop by! I've tried a fair amount of the baked goods here and the scones are definitely one of my favorites. I also quite like the cinnamon buns.
They also have special offerings on different days, and they seem to take requests for gluten free or vegan goods in advance (a huge plus!)

The decor is great--clean and pleasant with touches of color. The place is also very kid friendly. Sometimes it can be a bit loud because of the capacity (and if there are multiple kids playing in the back room) but I never felt that it was really that overwhelming. They also offer free WiFi, if you're looking to get some work done.

Anyway, if you're ever in Wedding and are in search for a twee cafe, this one's got you covered (especially since twee cafes are not that common in Wedding). Hope you liked it and ciao for now!

A Bioladen is directly translated as an Organic Store, and you guessed it; everything in the store is organic. I am a frequent visitor of these establishments because I love the variety they offer. From regular grocery items to specialty items, I find them to be an immense source of inspiration for new recipes.
Some of them also have a little cafe attached so you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. It's a nice pit stop if you're wandering around your neighborhood with no particular agenda. Better yet if you have a friend with you!

I find it totally funny that I can spot the items from Ikea. I have the same sugar container! I grabbed an espresso while Riccardo grabbed a Hot Lemon Chai drink.

That's what this particular Bio Store looked like. There are many like this in every neighborhood of Berlin!

My friend Riccardo!

  Kisses!

Sorry for the late update. I've been scrambling around Berlin just enjoying the last few days of warm fall before cold deadly fall rears its ugly head (although I suppose Berlin winter has a charm of its own). Anyway, look forward to another post veeeeery soon. Ciao for now Leute!

I'm sitting in Cafe Morgenrot right now. I was awakened this morning by my landlord's incredibly audible music, and decided it'd be better to make my way to a cafe with wifi instead. Thanks to Yelp, I found this little gem.

-Free Wifi
-Fairtrade and Organic Coffee and Tea
-All Cakes are Vegan
-Cool Music
-Wooden Chairs and Tables with Dingy Hipster Lighting (you know what I'm talking about)

It's not very close to where I live, but it's worth a trek.

Today's Agenda
  • Finish emails to possible employers
  • Start writing my [next] short story
  • Clean the hallways
Not such a long list. I think I'll zen out to some Mumford & Sons in the meanwhile.

Paris Paris Paris! This is the chant that runs through my head every morning since I've gotten here, which is a lot healthier than what my subconscious is telling me (last night I had a dream about a crazed lemur, whose brain was swapped with a human lunatic).

I've been couchsurfing these past few days and I love it. I could not recommend it enough for people traveling somewhere new. It's refreshing, and you get to see the world through different eyes. I've also noticed while you're making observations about them, they are making the same of you, and it's interesting to hear what people think of my American heritage.

The above picture is when I decided I was walking for way too many hours without a pit stop, so I ducked into a nearby cafe and got myself a coffee while writing a few thoughts down.

Today I go to the Musee d'Orsay with my friend Viv! I'm excited! Au Revoir!

Hey guys, how are you today? I've been doing well (although fighting a tiny little bug in the stomach).

Berlin is just as cold as ever (with temperatures going down a whopping -11 C on Saturday). I would say luckily I was in Dresden, except that it was quite the Winter Wonderland down there as well (my feet felt like frozen icecube trays!) However, I can say lucky me I'm going to Paris, because it's a whole 6 C higher!

I'm doing a bit of packing now (warzone in the room), before I head over to the bus. I'm actually extremely lucky I live right next to the bus that takes me straight to the Tegel Airport.

The above picture is a small pit stop Cristina, Laure, and I made to grab a coffee and warm up in Dresden. I'm always in the mood for sweets. I'll post the rest soon!

Ciao for now (or shall I say Au Revoir?)
