On Sunday, Oli and I biked over to Liepnitzsee, a lake located between Bernau and Wandlitz in Brandenburg. The thing to do in Berlin during the summer is to bike to lakes whenever possible. They're beautiful, surrounded by nature, and it's the perfect way to cool down on a blazing hot day.

We started off by eating a good ole hearty breakfast.

Actually, this was more like brunch since we woke up pretty late (no partying but we did cram in a few episodes of House of Cards -- shout out to Dan for the recommendation!) I made a poor man's frittata because it only had two eggs (I prefer a rainbow of veggies and only a bit of egg, minimal salt, and some herbs for added flavor). Oli made himself something similar to a gratin (we didn't go to the grocery store on Saturday so we used up whatever was in the fridge for both our meals, hence the make-shift dishes).

After eating and a bit of piano playing, we were off!

A nice sunny day.

30 km later, we arrived at the park with the lake! And of course at the entrance was a little food shack packed with people.

Time to refuel!

After a few minutes more of biking around the park, we found the lake. There's a small island right in the middle of it that you can swim to. Unfortunately, I can't swim! So the only people on that side are the ones with inflatable rafts and well, ones that can swim. Hopefully I can make it over there one day!

The day ended pretty quickly from there. We ate some dried fruit and vegan muffins and started on the long ride back home. On the way, I found the cutest little sign:

Where was this sign in Studio Ghibli's The Cat Returns??

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the post! Sorry if I've been lacking in them lately. Hopefully I can post a bit more in the coming weeks. Ciao for now!

Trip to Liepnitzsee

Hey guys, it's Aya! It's been a bit of a hectic 2 weeks over here. Biking to Hamburg, spontaneous trip to Sweden, and overall working on visa stuff (dun dun dun)! I also registered for a 3 month membership at this gym semi nearby so I'm pretty pumped!

Here are a few shots from Sweden! I tagged along with Oli and his father because his father had to pick up some supplies for work.

We docked at Trelleborg via Ferry and went to Malmö by car. Then we went back via bike!

Trip to Sweden

A lot of you guys know that I am a true city girl. I realized this at a young age when I was playing with a soccer ball in Japan. I was waiting for my relatives to finish talking when I kicked the ball on what I thought was a patch of grass. I went to get it. Naturally it ended up being a rice field, and because I had never seen one in my life nor did I think there would be one next to my aunt's house, I fell right in and came out covered in mud.

Let's face it: I know tall buildings, public transportation, and I am very comfortable in crowds and the sound of the car alarm going off in the morning (super not fun, but it happens).

Well I decided to dip my feet into the pool of the unknown. This my friends, is what I call, "The Country Bike Ride to the Lake a Few Villages Over". Some of you may or may not know, I learned how to ride a bike for the first time last year, and I relearned again this Spring. So going 40 km for me is quite a big deal!

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle! It's just about evening over here guys . . . I forgot the sun is still up around 9. Crazy sauce!

Anyway, last Saturday was my friend Cherry's birthday! Kids grow up so fast these days . . . =w=

They came up to visit me in Brandenburg, and then what did we do? We picked cherries and made a cherry cake!
